It is important to remember that youth ministry is not just youth group. It is all that we do to bring our youth into a closer relationship with God, and how they learn to live their Catholic faith everyday. It is how they build relationships with the people of God and with His church - us! There are three major goals of a comprehensive youth ministry program, as outlined in the document Renewing the Vision from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. They are interdependent and equally important in guiding the Church's ministry with adolescents. Goal 1: To empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today. Goal 2: To draw young people to responsible participation in the life, mission and work of the Catholic faith community. Goal 3: To foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person. Our mission to build a comprehensive youth ministry program based on the USCCB goals and objectives as found in the document Renewing the Vision are beginning to reap a harvest. The youth of our parish are becoming leaders today in our faith community as well as preparing and learning about stewardship to continue as the leaders of tomorrow. They are learning more about themselves, building strong relationships with each other and with God, and are active in supporting the work of the Church. It is a blessing and a joy to witness these young Disciples of Christ working to change our parish and our world!! As with everthing in today's economy we continue to seek funding to bring youth ministry to its fullest potential. We ask for your prayers that God will provide for our financial needs. We also ask that you consider a financial gift. Every dollar brings us another step along the road of faith in action for our parish young people. A quarterly newsletter is sent to each active member of youth ministry along with copies posted in the vestibule of the church. Continuing updates can also be found in the parish bulletin. We welcome and encourage the youth of our parish in grades 6-12 to become actively involved in youth ministry. We also seek interested adults to assist with youth minstry. It is important that our young people have good adult role models to follow. If you would like additional information or just have questions feel free to contact our Coordinator of Religious Education/Youth Ministry.
